What is Holistic Life Coaching All About?
Holistic Life Coaching, Working With a Life Coach, and Living a Holistic Life: My focus as a holistic life coach can be understood from the perspective of holistic health. What do I mean by holistic? I mean an overwhelmingly interconnected approach to achieving wellness. This includes a correct diet with proper nutrition. I could spend hours debating what a correct diet actually is but in life coaching, a life coach does not have the answers, the client does. This is important because proper diet and nutrition will be debated for years to come. whats truly important is that the client is doing what is necessary to achieve the proper balance within thier diet. This also means that it works well with thier routine, schedule, and lifestyle. Its the job of the life coach to guide the client into the proper action. Understanding the functions of a Life Coach: Its the job of the life coach to remove the blinders and show the client what is possible, to validate thier experiences, and to reflect real human experiences in order to expose true opportunity to a client. Holistic health is not limited to diet. It is also inclusive of proper thinking, spiritual practices and awareness, and physical health. Holistic life coaching is about empowering people to live the lives they truly want. Correct thinking is a struggle for many people because we see the world and our experiences through our lense. Most people are terrified to remove the lense and objectively view thier situations from a realistic stance of clarity and detatchment. The role of the life coach is to serve as the guide. A scout who is able to identify every error in judgment caused by seeing through these lenses. What i mean by our personal lense is our beliefs, ideas, preconceptions, assumptions, limiting beliefs, self doubting mindset, and lack of faith. As a life coach I have worked tirelessly to disengage improper thoht patterns such as limiting beliefs, assumptions, gremlins, and interpretations so that I can not only empower myself to reach new levels, but to bring that level of empowerment to anyone who is hungry for taing empowered action. Clarity can be difficult to achieve. It takes vigilance and a determination to go far beyond the boundaries of our defined understanding of reality. This is because you must be willing to consistantly challenge your beliefs. What About Spirituality In Life Coaching? In the realms of spirituality my purpose as a life coach is to show clients just how thier lenses have been formed, it is my sincere wish that every single client i work with will make it a priority to understand thier own connections to life, spirituality, and eachother. This is done by objectively understanding the lenses that have been created, and consistently challenging the old beliefs so that all opportunities become visible beyond them. This means confronting old thought patterns, and understanding how they developed into a concrete belief or ideal. Using holistic life coaching techniques, it is simple to demonstrate how old beliefs and thought patterns cloud our ability to think beyond judgment, limiting beliefs, assumptions, gremlins, and interpretations. If you have ever seen a hidden image or message in an advertsiment, chances are someone had pointed it out to you. But once you see it, you always see it, but before you had known about it you were oblivious and couldnt possibly conceive of its existence. The best example off the top of my head is the arrow within the fed ex logo. (This can be seen within the "EX.") It is the job of the life coach to know and understand the lesser seen eprspectives and to bring them to your awareness. This is why life coaching is so effective. Coaches spend thier time thinking outside the box, and thrive on it. What Are The Results of Holistic Life Coaching? There are a multitude of results clients can expect by working with a holistic life coach. When a client makes the choice to work with a life coach, the initial impact is that they have immediately made it a priority to strip thier lives of boredome, disengagement, and apathy. as a life coach I intend to work with people who are fed up with old habits, belief systems, patterns, negative thinking, and wish to empower those people to make a wholehearted committment to being a positive force within thier sphere of influence. I want people to wake up to thier own capabilities as leaders. Real human beings. Honest, creative, consciouss, willing to learn, and are able to accept that they may not always be 100% correct. When beginning to work with a life coach its necessary to set a foundation for the coaching relationship. Initialy we would work on setting intentions. This allows the client to identify thier intentions and sets the stage for gaining insight into thier particular focus. This gives the life coach the ability to maximize the effectiveness of each session. Initial Life coaching Sessions: Some questions I might ask to understand the clients intention more clearly are as follows: In what aspects of your life do you feel like you are craving balance? Why? How would you describe your relationship to your health as a whole? What particular areas stand out? What should I know about your relationship and beliefs about health? what do you ultimately want to accomplish within these coaching sessions? The next session would look at the clients particular awareness. I might ask a client to describe thier overall awareness. Some questions I may ask are as follows: How would you describe your overall health? Spiritually? Mentally? Physically? Whats right? What would you like to change? What are your strengths? What do you value the most? How can you continue to nurture this area of your life? The overall goal of this coaching session is to understand a clients level of awareness and establish the gauge for learning and growth in certain areas. A Third Session may focus on integrating the information in the previous sessions by looking at the true priority of these different aspects of a clients overall wellness. As a holistic life coach, we derive great pleasure in helping people to objectively view thier current situation WITHOUT JUDGMENT! What do you do well? how could you do it better? what dont you do well? why not? what can you do to achieve a higher awareness in the necessary aspects of your life? what kind of changes do you feel you need to implement? Why? what will be the result of those changes? How will those changes make you feel? This session is about getting to the crux of what action is necessary and what results are desired. This is certainly an action phase within the coaching process. A Fourth life coaching session may look at the underlying motives. This is a chance to dive into internal coaching and understand why it is a client is seeking to make certain changes. What caused you to become aware of your state of health? what have you done wrong? what have they learned from it? What have you done right? What made it right? What about making these certain changes define you? Why do you identify with this state of health or these ideals? This is really about clarifying the clients reasons for making certain choices. Too often do we make choices and not acknowledge that we have made them. Its important to acknowledge large changes and shifts in our mentality and thinking because it allows us to better create and understand ourselves. This is important because it brings an understanding of why these changes are purposeful and what impact is has on the rest of the clients life. This is the real value of life coaching. I approach life with a holistic mindset, therefore I approach life coaching with the intent that others will choose to live a more holistic life.
